Position Overview:
\nJoin Advocate Southeast as a dedicated Respiratory Therapist on a short-term assignment designed to deliver exceptional patient care in a dynamic, teaching hospital environment. You will provide comprehensive respiratory care to a diverse patient population across multiple departments, ensuring optimal outcomes for neonates, pediatric, and adult patients.

Key Responsibilities:

\n
    \n
  • Administer respiratory treatments and interventions to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients throughout the facility.\n
  • Operate and manage ventilators, including IPPV/NIPPV, with proficiency.\n
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including respiratory leadership, to tailor patient care plans.\n
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records system.\n
  • Float within designated departments such as ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and General Med Floors to meet department staffing needs.\n
  • Contribute to patient safety and clinical excellence during each shift.\n
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and maintain current licenses and certifications.\n

What You Bring:

\n
    \n
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional respiratory therapy experience within a hospital setting, with competency in ventilator management (IPPV/NIPPV).\n
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) in North Carolina.\n
  • Valid NIC licensure.\n
  • Current BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP certifications (Resource Team requirements).\n
  • Strong clinical skills in Neonatal, Pediatric, and Adult respiratory care.\n
  • Experience working in various units including ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and General Med Floors.\n
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and float confidently within assigned departments.\n
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.\n

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or formal education in respiratory therapy preferred.\n
  • Previous experience in a teaching hospital or Level 1 trauma center is highly desirable.\n
  • Experience with EPIC EMR system is a plus.\n
\n\n

Certifications & Licenses:

  • North Carolina Respiratory Licensure (RRT or CRT)\n
  • Current BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP certifications \n

  • Up to 6 days off for RTO (must be scheduled at contract start).\n
  • Schedule cycle every 6 weeks.\n
